July 13, 2026
Metro Atlanta has a way of filling every week with something worth showing up for. Whether you're a longtime resident or just getting to know the area, the range of events, markets, and activities across the metro is one of the things that makes living here genuinely exciting.
This is a weekly roundup of what's worth your time — the events, markets, live music, family activities, outdoor spots, and cultural happenings that I'd recommend to anyone looking to get the most out of life in Metro Atlanta.
Featured Events This Week
Decatur WatchFest '26 — FIFA World Cup Watch Party
Decatur's 34-day FIFA World Cup celebration wraps up this weekend. Giant outdoor screens, live music, food trucks, and open-container restaurant zones on the Square. This Saturday features Pushback performing live, and Sunday's closing night brings the Indigo Girls to a gated, ticketed show. The energy on the Square during matches is hard to beat — even if you're not a die-hard soccer fan.
Styx & Chicago — The Windy Cities Tour
Two classic-rock titans share the stage for a double bill that's been selling out across the country. The amphitheatre's lawn section is the move for this one — bring a blanket, grab food from the nearby Avalon restaurants, and settle in for a long, good-time evening under the Alpharetta sky.
Atlanta BeltLine World Cup Celebrations
The entire BeltLine trail is hosting World Cup watch parties, live performances, pop-up markets, family activities, and soccer celebrations through the tournament's final day on July 19. It's a reason to walk the trail and discover something new along the way.
Zoo Atlanta — Savanna Nights
Savanna Nights is a 21-and-over evening experience at the zoo with live music, food, drinks, and after-hours animal encounters. The smaller crowd and cooler evening temperatures make it a different experience from a daytime visit — more relaxed, a little more social.
Live Music & Entertainment
Atlanta's live music scene is one of the most underrated in the country. From intimate clubs to amphitheatre tours, every night of the week has options. Here's what's on stage this week:
AJ Ghent & His Singing Guitar
Friday, Jul 17 at 8:00 PM. AJ Ghent brings his signature lap-steel guitar work and soulful vocals to one of the best-sounding rooms in Atlanta. The Tabernacle's converted-church acoustics are tailor-made for his style.
American Football
Thursday, Jul 16 at 8:00 PM. The influential emo/math-rock band brings their meticulous, emotionally resonant sound to Little Five Points. An intimate enough room that every note lands.
1FW SUMMERSTAGE 2
Friday, Jul 17 at 7:00 PM. A multi-artist showcase at Center Stage's main theater, presented by Dalton Carpet One. Three stages under one roof — the main theater, the Velvet Room, and the Vinyl lounge — mean there's usually something happening all night.
Avalon Nights Live
Friday, Jul 17, 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Free live music in Avalon's outdoor plaza every Friday through October. Grab dinner at one of Avalon's restaurants beforehand, then settle in for a relaxed evening of live music under the stars.
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Running through August 2. The Atlanta Shakespeare Company's production of Shakespeare's most beloved comedy, performed in an intimate tavern setting. Tickets $25–$49. Student, military, and senior discounts available.
The Earl
Always worth checking their calendar. A dive bar with genuinely great bookings — if you want to discover your next favorite band in a packed room, this is it.
Food & Drink Events
Metro Atlanta's food scene runs deep — and the farmers markets are where it starts. Here are the weekly markets and food events worth building your schedule around:
Peachtree Road Farmers Market
Over 70 local farmers, producers, and artists every Saturday. Seasonal produce, artisan bread, fresh flowers, local honey, and prepared foods. Live music, a children's area, and chef pop-ups round it out. One of Atlanta's most established markets.
Freedom Farmers Market
Organic and local products including fresh produce, grass-fed meats, dairy, eggs, baked goods, and coffee. Accepts SNAP/EBT with double benefits on fruits and vegetables. The Carter Center setting gives it a relaxed, community feel.
Grant Park Farmers Market
Rain or shine every Sunday. Sustainable and locally grown organic produce, bread, eggs, meats, and crafts. The Beacon ATL location puts you in the heart of Grant Park — pair it with a walk through the neighborhood.
Ponce City Farmers Market
An evening market at one of Atlanta's most popular food halls. Fresh produce from local farms, live music, and the option to grab dinner at one of the market's restaurant stalls afterward. One of the few markets in Georgia that's predominantly pedestrian- and cyclist-attended, located right off the BeltLine.
Sweet Auburn Curb Market
Atlanta's oldest continuously operating public market since 1918. Fresh meat, produce, seafood, and prepared foods from a diverse group of vendors. A true Atlanta institution — the kind of place that reminds you this city has deep roots.
Douglasville Church Street Farmers Market
A community market running through September on the Town Green in Douglasville. Local produce, baked goods, and handmade items. A good midweek stop if you're on the west side of the metro.
Family & Kids Activities
Metro Atlanta is one of the best metros in the Southeast for families — and the weeknight and weekend programming at the city's major attractions proves it. Here's what to check out this week:
Georgia Aquarium — Glow Nights
Nightly through August 9, starting at 4:00 PM. The aquarium transforms with glow-themed lighting, photo ops, specialty food and drinks, and live performances including jugglers, aerialists, and sway pole artists. Free with general admission. One of the best evening family outings in the city right now.
Zoo Atlanta — Savanna Nights (21+)
Saturday, Jul 18 from 6:00 – 8:30 PM. This adults-only evening event features live music, food, drinks, and after-hours animal encounters. Early entry starts at 4:30 PM. A different side of the zoo — more social, more relaxed.
Jukebox Giants: Disco Fever! — The Strand Theatre
Running through Jul 19 at the historic Strand Theatre in downtown Marietta. A high-energy, family-friendly production celebrating the disco era. The Strand's restored 1930s interior is worth the visit alone.
Children's Museum of Atlanta
Interactive exhibits for kids ages 0–10, with summer programming that includes STEM workshops, art sessions, and live performances. Located at Centennial Olympic Park — pair it with a walk through the park.
Atlanta African Dance & Drum Festival
July 17–19. A three-day celebration of African dance and drumming traditions with performances, workshops, and community gatherings. A vibrant cultural experience for the whole family.
Outdoor & Nature
Atlanta's tree canopy and river access make outdoor recreation easy — even inside the perimeter. Here are the trails, parks, and outdoor experiences worth your time this week:
Sunset Tree Tour — BeltLine Arboretum Eastside Trail
Monday, Jul 14 at 7:00 PM. A guided evening walk by Trees Atlanta exploring the BeltLine Arboretum — art installations, Tiny Doors, local history, and native trees, with sunset views crossing North Avenue. Free, but registration is recommended.
Tree Tour: Grant Park — Trees, Trails, History & Architecture
Saturday, Jul 18 at 9:00 AM. A morning tree tour through Grant Park, exploring the neighborhood's canopy, trails, and architectural history. A peaceful way to start your Saturday.
East Palisades Trail
One of the best hiking trails inside the perimeter. Follow the river through bamboo forests and along bluffs with water views. The trail connects to a riverside beach area where you can wade in the Chattahoochee.
Atlanta BeltLine — Eastside Trail
Walk, jog, or bike the BeltLine's most popular stretch. The trail passes murals, parks, restaurants, and some of Atlanta's most dynamic neighborhoods. With the World Cup celebrations running through July 19, there's extra energy along the trail right now.
Stone Mountain Park — Hiking the Rock
The trail to the top of Stone Mountain is a 1.1-mile walk up the granite face with panoramic views of the metro from the summit. It's a workout, but the view from the top is one of the best in Georgia.
Arts & Culture
Atlanta's cultural scene punches well above its weight. World-class museums, live theater, gallery districts, and historic landmarks — here's what to catch this week:
A Midsummer Night's Dream — Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse
Running through August 2. The Atlanta Shakespeare Company's production of Shakespeare's most beloved comedy, performed in an intimate tavern setting where the audience is part of the experience. Tickets $25–$49, with student, military, and senior discounts.
High Museum of Art — Permanent Collection & Rotating Exhibits
The High Museum's permanent collection includes European paintings, decorative arts, African art, and photography. The museum regularly brings in major traveling exhibits during the summer — check their website for current shows.
Atlanta Contemporary — Free Admission
A contemporary art museum with rotating exhibits from emerging and established artists. Free admission makes this an easy add to any West Midtown afternoon alongside the restaurants and galleries in the area.
National Center for Civil and Human Rights
An immersive museum experience connecting the American Civil Rights Movement to contemporary human rights issues worldwide. Powerful, educational, and a must-visit for anyone living in or moving to Atlanta.
Porsche Summer Nights — Porsche Experience Center
Running through August 15. Evening events at the Porsche Experience Center with car displays, driving experiences, and food. Even if you're not a car person, the facility and the views of the city are worth the visit.
